Somizi inspires woman to think twice about suicide
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Somizi shared an inspirational post on Instagram about how his social media posts saved a woman who was thinking of suicide.
In an Instagram post last Tuesday, Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung, the well-known 'Idols SA' judge shared a motivational message (and a recipe for ice tea - in true Somizi style) about how people's situations are sometimes not unique, but that doesn't mean they are not important.
He starts his message saying: "My message to you today is to motivate you and encourage you and let you know that you are not alone."
He went on to speak about everyone going through "tough times" and how there's nothing unique or special about what you are going through. We took this to mean that we all are going through things that are similar and that makes it relatable.
One of the standouts of his 'motivational speech' was when he said that you are not alone and that he is going through stuff. too. He finds a way to cope and it doesn't mean his life is smooth. He spoke specifically about suicide and how people handle situations differently.
He posted a follow-up video a few days later sharing that there was a woman that reached out to him privately and said that she was five minutes away from committing suicide, but Somizi's post altered her state of mind.
We love this splash of positivity that he has created and is certainly spreading hope and love to many that feel alone. What an awesome way to use social media!
