Being true to who you are is a courageous thing to do. It is definitely something that not many people are able to do, due to fear. It's not just society or family that they are fearful of though, the reins sometimes run so deep that you have to look within.

What are we talking about? Well, a recent post by CNN revealed that the new 'Superman' comic book would literally be life-altering for both comic lovers as well as the queer community.
"The fifth issue of the DC comic series "Superman: Son of Kal-El" will confirm that the new Superman -- Jon Kent, child of Clark Kent and Lane -- is bisexual after falling for Jay Nakamura, a male reporter, DC announced this week." (Instagram)
This bold new direction that 'Superman' takes on in the new comic book series is one that is much needed. It shows the evolution of our world, it shows the evolution of relationships, and it encourages a more accepting world.
The sentiment is beautifully articulated by writer, Tom Taylor, who said:
I've always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes and I’m very grateful DC and Warner Bros. share this idea. Superman's symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more. Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics.
His words are eloquently put and we couldn't agree more about the fact that everyone deserves to see themselves in their superheroes. Being able to relate to someone you look up to can be so invigorating and uplifting.
It can literally make you feel like a superhero and be able to take on your day-to-day challenges with that cape blowing in the wind. It takes us to the fact that many people suffer with their mental health because of their sexuality and all the things that follow when you are open and honest about who you are.
This creative installment of the 'Superman: Son of Kal-El' comic book will work in cohesion with the TV series and allow Jon Kent to explore his identity, whilst also learning about the secrets of his family.
