In case you missed it, there is a whole Instagram account dedicated to those wearing fake Gucci on the streets of South Africa...
When it comes to living your best life, we can firmly say that there are those celebs that don't shy away from showing off that name brand life. It's all about the flash, the flash of the brand, showing your worth by showing off that Gucci or that Prada accessory...
It is impactful as part of their own personal fashion sense. As much as many of these celebs make sure to remain authentic, as it is very much a reflection of their empires, some are being shaded on a public platform for 'allegedly' wearing fake brands...
The group is called: "Fake Gucci Community SA" and has labeled itself as a "Government Official" on Instagram.
"I’m here to expose these designer wanna be’s, stick with your Zara and H&M if you can’t afford the real thing!
Tag us if you spot something shady," the Instagram bio reads.
When it comes to calling out on people supporting 'fake' or replicas of well known fashion brands, we asked Vic Naidoo to share his thoughts. For one, he is all about fashion and respecting the craft, so when he heard about this, he was all for those celebrities being called out on disappointing their fans.
These celebs have let their fans down and the fans should unsubscribe to them.
"This is what is wrong with keeping up with appearances. These celebrities are walking around with fake Gucci and people who aspire to be them feel like they are not good enough..." Vic shared this with us and we think it says a lot about society.
A few of the celebrities that have been named on the Instagram page as 'fashioning' fake Gucci were; DJ Omuhle Makaziwe Gela, Somizi, Mampintsha, Zarinah Hassan aka “Zari the Boss Lady”, Big Zulu, and Shaun Andile Naki, better known as Shaun stylist.
The above post got some attention as many of the posts on this page, where people were asking how to spot a fake Gucci item. Some said it's got to do with the length of the hat, but we are still not sure how to tell for sure.
One person shared that this was not a fake and came to Mampintsha's defence by saying:
"The hat isn’t fake but what I know is that u have to order them at Gucci before u can get them. They don’t always have stock."
Whatever the situation, celebrities need to realise that supporting replicas is taking away from the fashion brand, it is also disappointing for fans who aspire to be like them.
On that note, Mr Somizi came back with a polite shutdown on his Instagram account...
