Gender reveal with the help of a hippo

It all began with simple cake cutting ceremonies, balloon popping, smoke guns, and it seems that this growing trend has reached new heights. 

Our parents and grandparents must have had far easier lives, not having to bother themselves with learning the gender of their unborn babies! Oh, how we long for simpler times. But with the growing need to be socially relevant, keeping up with Instagram influencers and just wanting to outshine each other, people are taking extreme measures to be cooler than cool.

In a recent video, a couple used the help of a watermelon and a hippo for their gender reveal. Expectant parents, Bridgette and Jonathan Joseph, filled the watermelon with coloured jelly and threw it into the mouth of Tank the Hippo. Blue liquid spilled out and the dad was beyond excited. 

A Twitter user posted the video on her account, and most people are calling an end to the new tradition.
