Twitter welcomes 'literally everyone' to the site as the Big 3 shutdown
Updated | By Stacey and J Sbu
While Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram were down, Twitter came through with the humour.
When something as big as the shutdown of the entire internet happens, you can count on humans to bring the hilarity!

Also, we might be being a bit dramatic and could be overexaggerating when we say the "whole internet" was down, but without Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp working, that's kind of the case.
Anyway, while the memes might have been hilarious, what really got us laughing was the reactions and responses the brands were dishing out on Twitter.

In case you have been living underneath a rock with no WIFI here's what happened last night:
According to the website Downdetector.com and, of course, Twitter, the Facebook Inc's applications are suffering a major outage worldwide.

WhatsApp has taken to Twitter to address the outages most of their users have been experiencing:
We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible.
— WhatsApp (@WhatsApp) October 4, 2021

According to AFP:
The outage comes a day after a whistleblower went on US television to reveal her identity after she leaked a trove of documents to authorities alleging the social media giant knew its products were fueling hate and harming children's mental health. Frances Haugen, a 37-year-old data scientist from Iowa, has worked for companies including Google and Pinterest -- but said in an interview with CBS news show "60 Minutes" that Facebook was "substantially worse" than anything she had seen before. The world's largest social media platform has been embroiled in a firestorm brought about by Haugen, with US lawmakers and The Wall Street Journal detailing how Facebook knew its products, including Instagram, were harming young girls, especially around body image.- AFP

While we don't know how long the outage could last, this might be the perfect time to start reading that book you've been delaying or just give that person you're trying to get in touch with an actual phone call.
