Rooibos is the colour of the season, folks! 

The latest dye that is starting to pop this fashion season hits very close to home.

In an effort to manufacture clothing in a more sustainable and ethical way, the world’s fashion, sport, and outdoor giants are starting to use natural sources to dye fabrics. Some of these natural fabric dyes include mushrooms, algae, lichen, plants, and even herbal alternatives like Rooibos.

George Herald shares some interesting intel on the matter: "Adele du Toit, spokesperson for the SA Rooibos Council(SARC), says it’s amazing to see how Rooibos is being used to dye everything from shawls, scarves, T-shirts, hoodies, dresses and trousers."

We have all bared witness to just how damaging the fast fashion practices are on our planet. This technique of colouring garments using non-toxic, biodegradable, and eco-friendly natural dyes like Rooibos would significantly reduce the textile industry’s carbon footprint.
