In a bid to ban the thumbs up emoji, Gen Z are calling it hostile and too aggressive.ย
Here is a video explaining their protest:
Here are some reactions from the thumbelinas:
- โFor younger people, the thumbs-up emoji is used to be really passive-aggressive. Itโs super rude if someone just sends you a thumbs up. So I also had a weird time adjusting because my workplace is the same.โ
- โIt probably feels unsettling because it's impersonal, and based just off this post, you seem like the kind of person who prefers more genuine interactions with others.โ
- "If someone sends me a thumbs up, I'm blocking them."
- โLook I donโt make the rules but the thumbs up emoji is passive aggressive. Idk why, itโs bad vibes.โ
