Certified Gold! Stacey and JSbu catch up with Kelly Khumalo
Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
Kelly Khumalo has once again proven that she is a powerhouse whose talent is undeniable.
She is one of the most talented South African vocalists of our time and in a year that many musicians shied away from releasing a body of work in the form of an album, Kelly Khumalo went her own way.
On Friday, 9 October 2020, Khumalo released her album, 'The Voice Of Africa', at the Universal Music offices in Johannesburg.
It was during the official launch of the album that Kelly was awarded with a gold plaque from her record label that signified yet another milestone for the musician. The lead single from her album, 'Empini', had just gone certified gold. The single that was released earlier this year has been a firm favourite amongst fans and radio stations.

The album launch, which was accompanied by a listening session, was MC'd by 'Idols SA' judge Somizi Mhlongo.
Somizi, whilst speaking of his friend, had the following to say:
We are here to celebrate a great sister of mine, a great friend of mine. We've come a long way, Kelly and I .. We celebrating the voice of Africa. Finally, Kelly has a title that suits her voice. Kelly is the voice of Africa, in my books Kelly is the best female vocalist we've ever had in our time and that we shall not be apologetic about- Somizi
Stacey and JSbu managed to chat to a nervous yet excited Khumalo on Friday morning, just before her album launch.
