Woman has rare condition and can’t hear male voices
Doctors say that this bizarre condition can also be triggered by stress.
A Chinese woman has been diagnosed as suffering from a unique type of hearing loss where she cannot hear the voices of men.
According to reports, the woman who has been identified by her surname Chen, woke up one day and she could not hear her boyfriend’s voice.
Chen, who lives in the Chinese city of Xiamen, went straight to hospital where doctors diagnosed her with reverse-slope hearing loss.
According to Dr Lin Xiaoqing, who is a woman and treated Chen, she was able to hear her during treatment but when another male patient walked in Chen could not hear anything he was saying. This means Chen can only hear high frequencies.
The rare condition reportedly affects only 1 in 13,000 people with hearing problems.
