local rapper, Riky Rick attended an awards ceremony in Durban recently and had
his mic cut off during his speech.
It made huge news on social media last week when Riky Rick went public about his annoyance with the music industry. He used his acceptance speech to voice how hard it is for young artists to break into mainstream radio and have their tracks played if they don’t have the money. Everyone wants to know what was he trying to say just when his mic was cut off but Riky Rick declined every request for an interview. I was lucky enough to be at a performance of his in Durban this weekend and I was filming his performance when he stopped the show to deliver what I believe to be the ending to the speech we didn’t get to hear.
