Meet Jono Johansen and his amazing voice
Updated | By Natarah Nadesan
Durban boy blows the judges of The Voice SA away!

18-year-old Jono Johansen from Durban - who has just completed matric at Kearnsey College - is a double world champ chorister, having triumphed at the Cincinnatti World Choir Olympic Games in 2012, and again in Riga in Latvia in 2014, in the “Scenic Pop” category.
This classically trained young singer, who is also a self-professed fitness freak, has been studying many genres of music, but jazz currently occupies a special place in his heart.
All four of the coaches were waxing lyrical about Jono’s Blind Audition performance of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down” and his “control” and “special gift” inspired the potential future mentors to come up with elaborate pitches to win his favour.
Jono ultimately chose songstress Lira.
