A busy highway in KZN is getting an upgrade

Busy weekends ahead for the N3 highway. Motorists take note!

It was announced by the South African National Roads (SANRAL) that there will be emergency pavement repairs happening on the N3, which will result in the closure of some lanes.

The work that has to be done on the highway includes the patching of the slow lane. This will be undertaken over several consecutive weekends, starting this month on 9 July until 19 September.

These closures will be every weekend and will start at 2pm on the Saturday afternoon and run until 4am on the Monday. The upgrades are set to take place between Ashburton and New England Road.

These closures will have an impact as follows:

9 July to 19 September- N3 northbound and southbound between Ashburton and New England Road:

  • Two-lane sections reduced to one lane from 14h00 on Saturday afternoons till 04h00 on Monday mornings.
  • Three-lane sections reduced to two lanes from 14h00 on Saturday afternoons till 04h00 on Monday mornings
