Manchester United have won the first piece of silverware up for grabs this season in the English Premier League with victory at Wembley against Southampton.
United came into the game as clear favorites against a side appearing in a Wembley final for the first time in over 70 years.
On the way to the final Jose Mourinho's side beat Northampton, Manchester City, West Ham United and Hull City.
The Saints managed the upset of the round with victory against Liverpool in the semi finals so they rightly deserved there spot in the Wembley showpiece.
The red devils got off to a blistering start going 2-0 up inside the opening 35mins through Zlatan and Jesse Lingard.
Southampton took some confidence into the halftime break with Manolo Gabbiadini getting on the scoresheet on the brink of halftime and later finished his brace with a goal early in the 2nd half to make it 2-2.
