Two killed, scores injured in separate crashes in KZN

One person was killed in a crash near KwaMashu, north of Durban, on Thursday.

A truck and a bus collided on the M25.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, says paramedics treated a number of people on the scene.
"It is alleged that a truck travelling Durban-bound somehow lost control and veered across the centre median, colliding with a bus.
“Paramedics found multiple casualties and immediately more ambulances, as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics, were dispatched to assist. A triage was done, and a total of 35 people were found to have sustained various injuries."
"Unfortunately, the truck driver, a male believed to be in his fifties, was found entrapped in the wreckage with major injuries."
In a separate crash, a pedestrian was run over and killed in Pietermaritzburg.
Jamieson says it happened near Otto’s Bluff Road.
"It is believed that a vehicle and a taxi had collided at the junction before the taxi lost control and veered off the road, colliding with a pedestrian. Paramedics assessed the pedestrian, a male believed to be in his forties.
“However, he had sustained fatal injuries, and there was nothing paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased on the scene. The light motor vehicle driver had sustained moderate injuries and was transported to hospital."
