Thousands to benefit from North Coast purification plant
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Thousands of KwaDukuza residents, on the North Coast, are set to benefit from the Lower Thukela Bulk Purification Plant.

The plant is expected to supply clean water to some 300 000 people in the region.
Commissioned in 2017, the total cost of the project comes in at an estimated R1.3 billion.
The Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pamela Tshwete, and KwaDukuza municipal officials visited the plant last week.
They urged communities to use water sparingly.
KwaDukuza spokesperson Sipho Mkhize also took the opportunity encourage young people in the region to look into careers that will help them play a role in local infrastructure projects,
"We are looking at changing the scope of how communities participate in these projects where they are not only doing the general work. We want children to get into careers that will ensure that they participate in such projects, as managers and engineers".
The project will supply water to areas like Groutville and Ballito - among others.
