Ramaphosa to world leaders: Do not hoard Covid-19 vaccines
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on countries not
to hoard excess COVID-19 vaccines, but rather supply
doses to states which do not have any.

Ramaphosa made the remarks during a virtual State of the World Address to the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Tuesday morning.
“We are saying, release the excess vaccines that you have ordered and hoarded. We need those who have hoarded the vaccines to release the vaccines so that other countries can have them.

“We want vaccines as quickly as other countries do. We are all not safe if some countries are vaccinating their people while others are not vaccinating.”
While most northern countries have already started with vaccinations, South Africa’s first consignment is only expected to arrive in the country by the end of January.
The first phase of the vaccine rollout plan will target a population of 1.25 million people, with the country’s healthcare workers first in line.
