From Viola Davis who shone in a one-shoulder yellow Michael Kors number and won the award for the Best Supporting Actress in a film for her role in "Fences" - to Meryl Streep whose speech captivated the entire audience at The Beverly Hilton, this year's Golden Globe Awards have set a sterling precedent for the 2017 award season.
All the honoured guests were dying to shake hands with Meryl Streep - who received a lifetime achievement award. More so for her speech - still the subject of conversation on social media - which tore at President-elect Donald Trump's campaign.

Another highlight included the musical "La La Land" sweeping an astounding seven awards - including the accolade for Best Motion Picture and Best Screenplay.
