Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Wednesday morning saw
a mostly smooth start to the first day of the academic year in schools in the
south of Durban.

But the Department of Education in KZN said it's been made aware of a school in uMlazi where angry parents caused disruptions.
They're upset over the promotion of some pupils.
This was the same area where Education MEC Mbali Fraser and Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga carried out visits in the morning.

KZN Education spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi said the parents want the school to adopt a pass-one pass-all principle.
He said they have resorted to stoning teachers cars.
"Just one school in uMlazi called KwaMgaga High School, there was an issue regards to the promotion of learners where we are told that some parents want the principal of pass one, pass all.
"It's a matter that we attending to, we can't accept such a principal at this day and age and those that are creating chaos at that school, have been identified and we will deal with them."
