No official notification of Zuma address: Presidency

The Presidency issued the statement earlier after some media houses reported that Zuma would address the media this morning.

Yesterday, the ANC said it expects Zuma to respond today to their announcement that it had decided to recall him from office.

ANC secretary general Ace Magashule briefed the media at Luthuli House in Johannesburg yesterday.

He said the party had decided to recall Zuma so that new ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa could become the country's leader.

Ramaphosa was elected ANC president at the party's National Elective Conference in December last year.

Magashule says the party's constitution requires that its president also serve as Head of State.

He stressed to reporters that the decision was not because Zuma had done anything wrong.

The Presidency released a short statement this morning saying no official communication has been issued on any press briefing by Zuma today.

It also urged the media to await official notification.
