The DA sees government's National Health Insurance plan as the creation of another State-owned enterprise.

The party believes, just like most SOEs are struggling to stay afloat, the NHI is doomed for failure.
The DA Shadow Minister of Health, Patricia Kopane said the cost of the NHI is based on outdated calculations.

She says in its current form, NHI does not realistically address costs - unlike what the DA's universal healthcare plan proposes.
Health Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi announced last week that the National Health Insurance Bill has been gazetted by Cabinet.
He said at the basis of the NHI is that the rich must subsidise the poor.
