Motorist shot and wounded on N2 near Ballito
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
A motorist was shot and left in critical condition in an apparent shooting on the N2 south near Ballito on Monday morning.

While the details surrounding the incident are still sketchy, it is understood that the stretch of the route remained an active crime scene by mid-morning.
"There are a lot of police on scene and a lot of security companies because they are tracking the suspect in the sugar cane,” said IPSS Medical Rescue's Samantha Meyrick.

She says medics returned to the scene a short while later to treat a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle.
The driver was apparently trying to get past in the emergency lane.
"They did treat the pedestrian who was in a serious condition. He had multiple fractures, so that also caused more traffic backup, but we left the scene with the patient."
