Misuzulu says killing of children with albinism 'a disgrace'
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
King Misuzulu kaZwelithin has called for end to the killing
of children and people living with albinism - as this is not in line with the
values and traditions of the Zulu nation.
Misuzulu spoke during the 144th commemoration of the battle of Isandlwana in KZN on Saturday.
The event commemorates the nation's 1879 defeat of the British army on the Nquthu battlefields.
The king spoke a few days after a KZN woman was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment after she attempted to traffic an albino child in the Manguzi area.
"I don't know how to put this but there is something that is not sitting well with us as the Zulu nation.
On my way coming to Isandlwana - I heard on the news about the habit of killing people living with albinism still exists."

"As we are all here - we all have the ability to give birth to a child with albinism. This bad habit still continues. The habit that came over us of killing and stealing young children."
"We find children with missing body parts. That is not what our Zulu Nation stands for.
It hurts us, it embarrasses us and it's a disgrace to us."
