The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal says the first day of matric final exams went off without a hitch.
One hundred and ninety-eight thousand learners sat for the first English paper on Monday morning.
Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says everything went very well.
"We kick-started the 2022 examination with the deputy minister and the MEC visiting Ogwini Comprehensive Technical High in Umlazi P section, where they monitored the English paper.
"If we speak about the state of readiness, today it was put to the test and we passed the test because this was the biggest paper that is written by all the learners."
