SA remains destination of choice for many: Gigaba
Updated | By Samkelo Maseko
Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba says South Africa is still a tourist destination of choice for many travelers.

Gigaba released the 2016/2017 festive season tourism numbers in Pretoria earlier today.
The minister says over 5.5 million travellers used the country's ports of entry over the festive season - a rise of 3.7 percent.
He says immigration plays a key role in security, with a suspected Syrian extremist linked to ISIS denied entry into the country at OR Tambo International Airport on 16 December 2016.
"What we are required to do is to send the guy back to his country of origin where he has committed transgressions," says Gigaba.
Gigaba says South African laws did not allow for his arrest.
