Nkandla pupil allegedly beaten by security guard

KwaZulu-Natal Education has ordered the immediate suspension of a school security guard who allegedly assaulted a pupil in Nkandla.

The incident reportedly took place at the Velangaye School.

It's understood the girl was beaten after she arrived late for school.
Education MEC Kwazi Mshengu says they've ordered the guard to be suspended without pay and requested an assault case be opened.
"We have always warned all our employees that the beating of learners is illegal and if found guilty, the Department will institute stern disciplinary actions against the perpetrators", MEC said.
