Um, no! Cardi B's attempt to trademark "okurrr" is denied
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
She tried it (and failed)! US patent office says nuh-uh, girl, to Cardi B's "okurrr" trademark registration.
Somebody please check on Cardi B because she might not be "okurrr" after the US Patent and Trademark Office denied her application to trademark the popular catchphrase.
The American rapper is known for using the word, which has become her signature phrase.
But Cardi B did not come up with the phrase. The LGBTQ community started using the word - which is a sassy way of saying "okay" - before she hit the big time.
"Okurrr" gained nationwide fame after Laganja Estranja, a contestant on season six of 'RuPaul’s Drag Race', was heard using it.
The Kardashian sisters have also being saying "okurrr" from as early as 2017. Kim Kardashian even tried to add "okurrr" to her kimoji app.
But Laganja protested.
POOR ME! Another one of my word candies has been stolen!! How @Alaska5000 of you @KimKardashian 🤑💚 LOL https://t.co/rx1hRSpePM

So it comes as no surprise that the US patent office denied Cardi's application to exclusively benefit from using "okurrr".
According to CNN, the patent was rejected because the word is "commonplace term, message, or expression widely used by a variety of sources that merely conveys an ordinary, familiar, well-recognized concept or sentiment."
The 'Bodak Yellow' hitmaker filed a trademark for "okurrr" on March 11 for merchandising purposes.
But there is still hope for the star.
She is reportedly also trying to trademark "okurr", with two r's instead of three.
Okurr?

Remember when gays were saying “okurrr” well over 5 years before Cardi B yet she somehow thinks she can copyright it? Girl can’t even roll her r’s.
