Selena Gomez named Billboard's Woman of the Year
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
It's been a roller coaster year for Selena Gomez, but the singer and actress is ending the year on a high note.
Selena Gomez was named 'Woman of the Year' at the Billboard Women in Music awards in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Her best friend Francia Raisa and actress Elle Fanning presented the 'Fetish' hitmaker with the award.
Selena broke down in tears when she thanked Francia for literally saving her life when she donated one of her kidneys to the star.
"I think Francia should be getting this award. She saved my life… I feel incredibly lucky," the 25-year-old said while accepting her award.

Despite her personal struggles, Selena released four new songs in 2017, including 'Bad Liar', which is at number 34 on the Coca-Cola Top 40, and 'Wolves', at number 14 on the chart.
Selena opened up about her career, her Lupus battle, and her relationship with ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd, in the latest issue of Billboard magazine.
She revealed she is also working on new music.
"I mean this in a very loving way, [but] my label has been itching for all the music that I’ve been creating, and there is such power in saying “no.” I like how we’ve presented the music this year, because it wasn't in an aggressive way; it felt very genuine. I’ve canceled the past two tours I’ve done, so that’s something I’ve considered deeply too. How will I step on that stage and just completely own it and wear it proudly? In the past, I just kept reaching for something: 'The costume is not glittery enough. What is going to pull them in? Everybody keeps looking at me like I’m this young girl'," she said.
