Pearl Thusi defends nipple-baring sheer outfits

Pearl Thusi almost broke the internet after sharing racy pictures of herself on Instagram. The 35-year-old's sheer outfit left very little to the imagination.
The 'Queen Sono' actress wore the outfit to a party hosted by local designer, Rich Mnisi. Pearl wore a sheer one-piece that showed off her breasts as she was not wearing a bra. She was also wearing a thong, which means her buns were on full display as well.
Pearl joked that she was the cause of the recent Gauteng earthquake.

Pearl has been sharing pictures from the event on her page over the past few days.
"Happy Sunday! Ready for my sermon. Where the church girls at," she wrote. While some of Pearl's famous friends - including DJ Zinhle and Lorna Maseko - gushed over the raunchy images, some social media users were shocked by her outfit.
"This is disappointing, what about our young girls that look up to you? Especially the caption, so sis Pearl, this is not it," one Instagram user wrote.
Another user added: "There's a fine line between style and self-respect."
Pearl also became a trending topic on Twitter. While some disapproved, they felt nobody had a right to tell Pearl what she can and cannot wear.
"This is Pearl Thusi's body. She has agency & must dress however she wishes, within legal requirements. But I personally don't approve of this. I think it's a bad example for young impressionable kids/girls. I don't think it's liberating... I think it promotes the cheapening of the female body, in the eyes of most men," one man wrote.
Another user added: "Pearl Thusi can dress however she wishes... With that being said, we can't all approve it, and it's okay."
A third person wrote: "Young girls must get examples from their mothers and sisters. People like Pearl Thusi cannot be held responsible for how bad some girl in Nkandla turned out."

"Y’all need to stop acting like y’all ain’t see my ladies in my movies already. Nothing new happening here. I even did the Marie Claire naked what-what twice," she wrote on Instagram.
She made the comment in another post she shared that showed off her nipples.
"Don’t slide if you like reporting people. Unfollow me or block me so we can both mind our business. This look was crafted to impress ONLY @janellemonae for her latest project which I’m obsessed with."

Pearl is not the only celebrity who has raised eyebrows with a sheer outfit. American singer Ciara also received flak for wearing a see-through outfit to Vanity Fair's 2023 Oscars after-party in March.
Sheer and see-through looks were also on full display at the 2023 Met Gala.
According to Vogue magazine, the latest sheer dress trend is pushing boundaries with celebrities and "regular people" throwing modesty to the wind.
"Perhaps it’s an act of cultural pushback against the government’s puritanical restrictions on women’s bodies. Maybe it’s a sign that we shouldn’t be so concerned with our own nakedness. No matter how you wear it, sheer is sexy, subversive, and powerful," the publication declared in an April 2023 article.
