Nomzamo Mbatha shines as 2017 BET Awards co-host
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Actress Nomzamo Mbatha can add another big achievement to her growing list of career highlights.
Nomzamo Mbatha flew South Africa's flag high during the 2017 BET Awards weekend in Los Angeles, USA.
The actress co-hosted the BET Awards International presentation on Saturday, alongside American model Eva Marcille, who some of you may remember from 'America's Next Top Model'.
The ceremony took place one day before the live show on Sunday, with awards being dished out in categories such as 'Best International Act: Africa'.
Parts of the the presentation are expected to be included in the main event.
AKA, Nasty C, and Babes Wodumo were all nominated in the category, but lost out to Nigerian superstar Wizkid.
Songstress Amanda Black also didn't win in her category. She was beaten by Tanzanian artist Ray Vanny, who walked away with the 'Viewers' Choice: Best International' award.
But "Team South Africa" didn't go home empty handed. SA music icon Yvonne Chaka Chaka received the 'Global Good Award' for her efforts as an humanitarian.
Nomzamo's presenting gig is also a major win for Mzansi, and hopefully next year we will have one of our local stars making it to the main event!
"#WhenJesusSaysYes ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 An honour and of course a HUGE responsibility ... AFRICA STAND UP," she said on Instagram.
The 2017 BET Awards will air in SA on Tuesday on DStv's channel 129.
