Minnie Dlamini's Kick Off cover causes uproar
Twitter users are not happy that Minnie Dlamini is the first woman on the cover of Kick Off magazine.
Minnie Dlamini's Kick Off magazine cover has caused an uproar on Twitter.
The publication released its March issue on Thursday, and made history in the process.
Minnie is the first woman to grace the cover!
Over the past two decades Kick Off's covers were reserved for male football stars.
But it seems the editorial team decided to change that in 2017 by putting someone sporty on the cover.
We use the term sporty loosely, because Minnie does not play any sport professionally, and the only thing sporty about her cover is the ball she is carrying.
But Minnie was not a random choice. She is a well-known sports presenter - among other things.
Scores of South Africans took to Twitter to express their disappointment over the publication's cover choice.
Many criticised Kick Off for not using a female athlete, while others noted that presenter Carol Tshabalala had done more for the sport than Minnie.
It's all about star power - it seems - and Minnie has a lot of it!
