Miley Cyrus slapped with $300-million copyright lawsuit
A Jamaican musician is claiming that Miley Cyrus copied his song's lyrics.
Miley Cyrus might have to stop performing her hit single, 'We Can't Stop', if songwriter Michael 'Flourgon' May gets his own way.
The Jamaican dancehall artist claims the song's lyrics closely resemble 'We Run Things'.
The song was a number one hit in Jamaica in 1988 - before Miley was even born.
Flourgon says Miley and her team stole his song's lyrics.
The lyrics in contention are "We run things / Things no run we" - which Miley sings.
Flourgon's version has the words: “We run things / Things don’t run we.”

He is suing the former Hannah Montana star for $300-million over copyright infringement.
Flourgon also wants her to stop singing and selling the song until the matter is resolved.
Miley Cyrus is credited as one of the songwriters on 'We Can't Stop', alongside Mike “Mike Will Made It” Williams and several others.
The single reached the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and was a massive hit in South Africa as well.
Flourgon says the song “owes the basis of its chart-topping popularity" to his "protected, unique, creative and original content", according to a Reuters report.
