Michael Jackson's daughter feels pressure from 'superfans' to post on birthday

“If you don’t wish someone a happy birthday via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them" - Paris has something to get off her chest.
Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris Jackson, has a strong message for his superfans.
The 25-year-old begged them not to use a man they had never met as an excuse to abuse, manipulate, and harass her into posting something on his birthday.
She made the comments on what would have been the singer's 65th birthday on Tuesday, August 29. The 'King of Pop' died in June 2009, but scores of people around the world continue to pay tribute to him on his birthday.
Many share birthday posts on social media, while others leave messages of support on his children's pages.

However, some fans take note when MJ's kids don't mark the occasion with posts of their own. Paris took to her official Instagram page to explain why she doesn't make a big deal about the 'Thriller' hitmaker's birthday.
"So today’s my dad’s birthday, and back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him a happy birthday, celebrating it, nothing like that. He actually didn't even want us to know when his birthday was because he didn't want us to throw a party," she said.
Paris added that some people get offended when she doesn't publicly wish her father happy birthday.
“Social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days. If you don’t wish someone a happy birthday via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them, you don't care about them."

Paris, who like her dad is also a singer, revealed that she even gets disturbing messages from fans.
"There have been times where I don't post anything for my dad's birthday and people lose their f***ing minds. They tell me to kill myself, and they are basically measuring my love for my own father based off of what I post on Instagram."

Her brothers, Bigi (Blanket) and Prince Jackson, also paid tribute to their dad on Tuesday.
They attended an event in Las Vegas marking the 10th anniversary of Cirque du Soleil's 'Michael Jackson ONE' show.
According to Cirque du Soleil's website, the 'Blue Sapphire Birthday Celebration' included several activities including a Q&A session hosted by the Michael Jackson Estate.
Prince also shared a picture of MJ and his siblings on Instagram with a special message for his dad.
"Happy birthday, dad. I miss you and I love you. You may be gone but not forgotten. You’re in our hearts each and every day," he wrote.
