South African actor Sharlto Copley who shot to global fame in District 9 says he cannot get over how down to earth Matt Damon is.
Sharlto stars alongside Matt Damon and Jodie Foster in Neill Blomkamp’s new sci-fi action flick, Elysium. Sharlto plays the villain, Kruger, - who is pitted against Matt Damon's character.
Set in the year 2154, Elysium is where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth. A man (Matt Damon) then takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.
When Sharlto first met Matt, he was surprised to learn that the Hollywood hunk knew all about him. Turns out, Matt is a huge fan of District 9.
Sharlto has praised Matt’s knowledge of everything to do with filmmaking, saying he and the Hollywood star often spent hours off the set talking about movies.
He has described Matt as a regular, down to earth guy who could easily be a member of his family.
Take a look at the full interview with Sharlto below.
By the way you would’ve noticed that Sharlto still sounds like a South African! It’s the one thing he was adamant about when he became super-famous: that he’d never adopt a pseudo-American accent.
Gotta love him for that!
Here's the Elysium trailer; it will be on the big screen in SA from the end of August.
