Lira celebrates SAMA nomination, shares health update

Lira's road to recovery might be slow but she has a lot to celebrate.
'Something Inside So Strong' singer Lira is feeling good after receiving a nomination for the 2022 South Africa Music Awards (SAMAs).
The SAMA28 nominees were announced on Tuesday. Lira, whose real name is Lerato Molapo, received a nod for 'Best Remix of the Year'.
The 43-year-old is nominated alongside DJ Maphorisa for her hit single, 'Feel Good'. "Such special news right now," she wrote on Instagram. Lira, who recently suffered a stroke, also gave her followers an update on her health.
"I'm very well, slowly, slowly recovering!"

Lira previously asked her fans to keep her in their prayers while she recovers from her stroke. Lira suffered a stroke in Germany in April and has been recovering at home ever since.
The stroke impacted her speech, but physically she is doing well.
"I am making lots of progress every day," she revealed two weeks ago.

Another SAMA28 nominee is Zakes Bantwini, who bagged seven nominations. He is up for 'Album of the Year' for his offering, 'Ghetto King'.
He also received a nod in the 'Male Artist of the Year' and 'Best Dance Album' categories.
Watershed, Shekhinah, Chymamusique, Deity's Muse, Springbok Nude Girls, and Jeremy Loops were also nominated.
