Kabelo Mabalane on being 21 years sober: 'All things are possible'
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
"When we are weak then we are strong" - Kabelo Mabalane is celebrating his sobriety.
Kabelo Mabalane says all things are possible after reaching a big sobriety milestone. The Kwaito musician is celebrating 21 years of being clean and sober.
Kabelo has been outspoken about his battle with alcohol and drugs over the years.
He became addicted to drugs in 1999 after a DJ offered him ecstasy while he was in the studio recording an album for TKZee. He soon started using drugs like cocaine and drinking heavily.
Things took a turn for the worse when he binged drugs for four days straight and had to be hospitalised.
The 'Shibobo/The Final Countdown' hitmaker was able to overcome his demons after checking himself into rehab.
Twenty-one years later he is now an ordained pastor, husband, and father of two.
"All things are possible because of unmerited, unearned, undeserved Grace. God shows no favouritism whatever He can do for one He can do for another," the 46-year-old said while marking his latest milestone.
"It’s about getting to the end of ourselves then we unleash Him onto and into our struggles. When we are weak then we are strong," he added.
