Iron Man 3 rules the SA box office

Have you watched Iron Man 3 yet? It’s the number 1 movie for us South Africans, topping the box office this past weekend and making history along the way!
 

The Robert Downey Jnr starrer has become the biggest five-day opening weekend in SA history, raking in a massive R13 394 393,00 from last Wednesday to Sunday. This includes its R4 169 844,00 taking on Workers Day last week – which is the biggest opening and single day on record.

And it’s the same story around the world. Audiences across the world also flocked to cinemas to the iconic Marvel superhero, including the United States where it opened with a whopping $175.3 million according to studio estimates, giving it the second biggest opening weekend of all time, after 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers.

Globally, Iron Man 3‘s Box Office takings have sky-rocketed to reach over $680 million.
