Inside Bonang Matheba's R500k 30th birthday party
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Bonang Matheba pulled out all the stops for her wedding-like birthday celebrations.
Bonang 'Queen B' Matheba threw herself a lavish 30th birthday party at the weekend, and some of South Africa's biggest stars showed up.
The party, which reportedly cost around R500,000, was held at exclusive Johannesburg venue, Summer Place in Hyde Park.
The venue is a favourite for weddings, and just as well Bonang's party resembled one.
"It is going to be a big party. Imagine you are going to a wedding – that’s how massive my birthday is going to be...It is a very big ball-gala-gown dinner. I mean, I’ve saved for over two-and-a-half years, so the budget is crazy – it’s like a wedding,” she told S Magazine a week before her big day.
While many expected AKA to pop the question on the night, Bonang did not receive a big diamond - not the engagement kind anyway.
Bonang acquired the services of Precious Celebrations, an event planning company that has worked with stars such as LeAnne Dlamini.
The 30-year-old pulled out all the stops to make sure her big day was a night to remember.
She even managed to get dancers from Joburg Ballet to perform at her party.
Bonang was dressed to the nines in a stunning dress created by Gert-Johan Coetzee. Of course, in true Queen B style, she wore not one but two stunning dresses on the night.
Here's a look at Bonang's big day.
