TorrentFreak.com, a website that focuses on copyright and privacy issues, reports the third-season finale of Game of Thrones was downloaded 5.9-million times via BitTorrent.
By comparison, about five and a half million people watched it when it premiered on HBO back in June.
After the season finale aired, it set a BitTorrent record for most people sharing an episode simultaneously: more than 170 000.
AMC's Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead were the second- and third-most-pirated shows of 2013, respectively.
