Five quick facts about our new Miss SA Tamaryn Green

Tamaryn Green woke up this morning with a huge smile on her face. She was crowned Miss South Africa 2018 on Sunday night, beating beauties such as Thulisa Keyi and Karishma Ramdev.

"A new dawn rising. Woke up with a heart so full and content. Last night a little girl's dream became her reality. South Africa I dedicate the next 365 days in service of you. For my people, with my people, together," Tamaryn wrote on Instagram on Monday.

Here's a look at five facts about our new Miss SA.

Paarl beauty

Tamaryn followed in the footsteps of Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters when she was crowned Miss SA on Sunday. Like Demi, the 23-year-old is also from the Western Cape - specifically Paarl. She visited several schools in her community ahead of the pageant to let little girls know that anything is possible if you work hard and follow your dreams. And on Sunday night, they got to watch her dream come true. 

Doctor in the making

Tamaryn is studying medicine at the University of Cape Town and is already doing the rounds at a local hospital as part of her degree. "The face you make when you successfully place that drip on a premature baby.  First call for the new rotation. 4 hours down," she captioned this picture on Instagram.

Dancing queen

Tamaryn is down-to-earth and not afraid to make herself look silly. She showed off her dancing skills in a fun video before the pageant.

Beauty pageant regular 

The Miss SA pageant is not the first time Tamaryn has been crowned the fairest of them all. She has won seven other pageants, including Miss New Orleans, Miss Rochester, Miss Immanuel, and Paarl’s Miss Funky Buddha.

She is a model

When Tamaryn is not seeing to patients, she is strutting her stuff on the catwalk. She recently bagged her first international modelling gig.
