Durban-born actress and television presenter, Kajal Bagwandeen-Singh, is making her debut on local soapie Isidingo this week.
She has landed the role of Devina, a blushing bride to be, who will make her first appearance on the show tomorrow (Friday).
Kajal says Devina's storyline is linked to Prada's character, played by actor Ashish Gangapersad .
"His grandfather has passed away and has left Prada and his brother R1-million. However, a clause in the will states that they both have to be married to a woman in order to get the money. A we all know Prada is gay and so he's in a really tough situation. Devina comes along. She's a sweet girl from Durban who is not as innocent as she appears," she says.
Kajal says she enjoyed being part of the cast for the popular soapie.
"It was wonderful playing Devina. She's quite a layered character which was very exciting. It was great as an actor to play a character like that. It was also wonderful working with the other actors. You also have discussions with the writers and the production team so you [become] quite involved in the story line and with the character. It was a great experience," she says.
The character is Kajal's second soapie role on our screens. Last year she played Asha on 7de laan for three months.
"I am working on a few other things that I can't really talk about at the moment. I will be performing at the SAIFTA awards happening in Durban in September. There's going to be plenty of local and Bollywood stars making appearances and performing. So look out for that, it's going to be lots of fun."
