Here's why Charlize Theron might cut back on action movies

The actress says she doesn't have a 25-year-old body anymore, which means she takes longer to recover.
At the age of 48, Charlize Theron remains one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood.
However, there is one movie genre that is taking a toll on her body as she gets older.
Speaking to Allure magazine, Charlize says action movies are becoming harder for her to do because her body is not as strong as it used to be.
“The thing that really bums me out is that I make action movies now and if I hurt myself, I take way longer to heal than I did in my 20s," the Academy Award winner said.

Charlize, who has starred in more than 60 feature films, is gearing up for the release of her latest action-packed project, 'The Old Guard 2'.
The Netflix film does not have a release date as yet, but could premiere in late 2023 or early 2024. Charlize revealed last year that she was injured while training for the movie and had to undergo shoulder surgery.
"I wish I had my 25-year-old body that I can just throw against the wall and not even hurt tomorrow. Now, if I don’t work out for three days and I go back to the gym, I can’t walk. I can’t sit down on the toilet,” she told Allure.

Charlize also revealed why she won't be undergoing drastic weight gain and weight loss for a movie.
The actress famously put on 14kg to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 'Monster'.
“I will never, ever do a movie again and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll gain 40 pounds.’ I will never do it again because you can’t take it off. When I was 27, I did 'Monster'. I lost 30 pounds, like, overnight. I missed three meals and I was back to my normal weight," she said.
But losing weight was not as easy in her 40s.
"Then I did it at 43 for 'Tully', and I remember a year into trying to lose the weight, I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying because I cannot lose this weight.’ And he was like, ‘You’re over 40. Calm down. Your metabolism is not what it was.’ Nobody wants to hear that."
