Tina Turner's reps reveal her cause of death
The 'Queen of Rock 'n' Roll' died on Wednesday, May 24, at the age of 83.
Reps for music icon, Tina Turner, have revealed her cause of death.
The 'Queen of Rock 'n' Roll' died on Wednesday, May 24, at the age of 83. Tina was based in Küsnach, Switzerland, at the time of her death.
"With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family," her spokesperson said in a statement.
The 'Proud Mary' singer died after a long illness. Details about the illness were not revealed, but a rep has since told the Daily Mail that Tina - who suffered with high blood pressure - died of natural causes.

Tina previously battled intestinal cancer and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017. Her kidney was donated by her German husband, Erwin Bach.
"Erwin and I have been together for over 30 years and he still writes me love letters – isn’t that romantic?" Tina wrote about her husband in 2019.
Tina and Erwin - a German music executive - met at an airport in Germany 38 years ago. They married in 2013 and both went on to become Swiss nationals.
"He was [16 years] younger [than me]. He was 30 years old at the time and had the prettiest face. I mean, you cannot [describe] it. It was like insane. [I thought], 'Where did he come from?' He was really so good-looking. My heart [was beating fast] and it means that a soul has met, and my hands were shaking," Tina said in her 2021 documentary 'Tina', according to People.
She reportedly had a net worth of $250-million (R4.9-billion) at the time of her death. Tina invested in property in the years leading up to her death.
The 'What's Love Got To Do With It' hitmaker and her husband bought a $76-million (R1.4-billion) waterfront home in Zürich in 2022. They purchased the home as a "weekend retreat".
Despite selling her music rights in 2021 for a reported $50-million, Tina still made around $3.7-million annually from her music, according to Billboard.

Tina Turner Children
Tina had two biological sons, Raymond Craig and Ronald 'Ronnie' Turner.
Raymond's father is Kings of Rhythm saxophonist, Raymond Hill, while Ronnie is the son of Tina's first husband Ike Turner.
She also adopted two of Ike's children - Ike Turner Jr and Michael Turner. Their mother is Lorraine Taylor.
Tina's relationship with Ike Jr. reportedly became distant after Tina moved to Europe in the 90s. However, she still continued to send his brother Michael - who needed medical support - money.
Sadly, her son Raymond - who also used his name, Craig - died in 2018. He took his own life at the age of 59.
"I have no idea what pulled him down, except something that followed him with loneliness. I think it was something with being alone... He was an introverted person, he was very shy, so I didn't know either, except now when I listen back to our last conversations, I notice a change. The last few times we talked, the conversations were different, and I didn't know that until after the suicide," Tina told BBC News a few months after his death.
Tina's son Ronnie also passed away. He died at 62 in 2022 after losing his battle with cancer.
"Ronnie, you left the world far too early. In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son," Tina wrote on her official Instagram page.

Tina Turner Funeral
Tina's reps have also revealed that she will be laid to rest in an intimate ceremony.
"There will be a private funeral ceremony attended by close friends and family," a spokesperson told The Sun.
No other details about her funeral have been revealed.
