Shawn Mendes is back with another hit.

The song, ‘It'll Be Okay’, was released on January 13.

It starts off with a question: ‘Are we going to make it, is this gonna hurt?’.

The singer goes on to let his lover know that no matter how their relationship turns out, it will be okay and his love won’t change.

“If you tell me you're leaving, I'll make it easy. It'll be okay. If we can't stop the bleeding. We don't have to fix it; we don't have to stay. I will love you either way. It'll be oh, be okay,” he sings.

The song has been described as a beautiful break-up song that proves that not all break-ups have to be messy. It is also the perfect song to say goodbye to someone you love, but feel your relationship is not working out.

Mendes says he wrote the song when he was going through hard times. In November the star broke up with Camila Cabello, whom he had dated for two years.

He says he wrote the song when he was craving to make music that was "raw".

“I was just really craving to make music that felt super honest and super raw and was going through some hard stuff at the time and some hard feelings and the song just, like, slowly came through,” he said in a video posted on Instagram.

“It was really eye-opening because that was one of the few times where I really allowed myself to just, like, be completely raw and honest in music,” he said.

The star says being vulnerable allows one to help others to be honest with their own lives as well.

“Being vulnerable and being open in the moment feels extremely hard and frustrating and annoying. But a lot of the time that pays off.

“Every time you give yourself the courage to be vulnerable, you give others the courage to also kind of show up and be true.

“And that's a really, really powerful thing. And a lot of healing happens when you just, like, said it out loud and don't hold it in,” he said.
