A new Selena album is on its way!
Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was shot and killed on 31 March 1995, but 27 years later, her music lives on. The 'Queen of Tejano Music' has a new album coming out as early as next month.
Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla, confirmed the project in an interview with Latin Groove News. He says the 13-track album will feature new arrangements by Selena's brother, A.B Quintanilla.
The digitally modified songs include a track Selena recorded when she was just 13 years old.
"This will be released through Warner Music... What is unique about it is not only is the music completely new arrangements but my son worked on Selena's voice with the computers and if you listen to it, she sounds - on these recordings - like she did before she passed away," Abraham told the publication.

The album is a family affair with Selena's sister, Suzette Quintanilla, helping with the album's cover art. Abraham says it still amazes the family that nearly three decades later the public still remembers the star.
"They haven't let go of her. They're waiting for a project like this to come out, and I know that it will be well received by the public," he added.

Selena has inspired many stars over the years, including Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez - who was named after the singer.
Jennifer played Selena in a 1997 film about her life and tragic death. JLO celebrated the 23rd anniversary of the movie's release in 2020 with a special tribute to Selena.
"I can’t believe it’s been 23 years since this incredible movie came out and 25 years since her passing. Selena was such an inspiration to me and I was so lucky to be chosen to play her. As an artist, this movie truly was an experience I’m going to remember for the rest of my life," the Grammy nominee wrote on Instagram.

Selena Gomez has also paid tribute to her namesake over the years. She has also met with members of the Quintanilla family.
“My dad and mom were huge fans. My name was going to be Priscilla, but my cousin actually took the name when she was born six months before me. They actually loved [Selena’s] music, so they just named me after her," she told Teen Vogue in 2016.
The 29-year-old also revealed that she had visited Selena's grave. "I got to go to her house. It was really crazy. And then when I started working, I remember I got to meet her family and I just got super emotional 'cause it’s so crazy to see how far everything ... I don’t know where she’d be right now. It’s nuts.”
