Quincy Jones shades Taylor Swift's music

Quincy Jones is not a big Taylor Swift fan.

The record producer even went as far as dissing the 'Look What You Made Me Do' singer's songwriting skills. 

The 84-year-old, who has worked with Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, and George Benson, expressed his disdain with the music superstar during a recent interview with GQ magazine.

Interviewer Chris Heath asked Quincy which big artists he liked. 

"Yeah, I love Kendrick Lamar, I love Bruno Mars, I love Drake, I love Ludacris, I love Common. Mary J. Blige. Jennifer Hudson," he replied.

But when Chris asked Quincy if he likes Taylor Swift - planet earth's biggest selling artist at the moment - Quincy reportedly gave him a look of "disdain".

"We need more songs, man. F**king songs, not hooks," he said when asked what was wrong with her music.

Some people consider her the great songwriter of our age.

He laughs. "Whatever crumbles your cookie."

So if you were producing a record for Taylor Swift, what would you have her do?

"I'll figure something out. Man, the song is the shit—that's what people don't realize. A great song can make the worst singer in the world a star. A bad song can't be saved by the three best singers in the world. I learned that 50 years ago."

Plenty of people talk as though Taylor Swift has great songs...

"But they don't know, man. They don't know. I've come and gone through seven decades of this shit. Seen all that. Seen how that works. Ignorance is no thing."

Whether Quincy likes it or not, Taylor is undoubtedly one of the biggest superstars of her generation.

Her latest album, 'Reputation', was the best selling album of 2017 - and it was released late in the year. 

It sold one-million copies within four days of its release. 

Two of the album's singles, 'Look What You Made Me Do' and '... Ready For It', which is currently at number two on the Coca-Cola Top 40, were major hits around the world.

Quincy also talked about the time Nelson Mandela tried to get him to touch a cheetah, and the time Tupac called him disgusting in his GQ interview.
