Linkin Park bags sixth number one album
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Linkin Park's new album, 'One More Light', has earned the band its sixth number one.
Linkin Park's latest album, 'One More Light', debuted at number one on the Billboard 200's June 10, 2017, chart.
The album, which was released on May 25, has sold over 111,000 units in less than five days, according to figures released by Nielsen Music.
Despite music insiders predicting the offering would debut at number two, fans came out in full force to support the band.
According to Billboard magazine, Linkin Park joins an elite group of rock bands who have achieved at least six number one albums on the chart.
The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin, U2, Dave Matthews Band, Metallica, and The Eagles have also achieved the feat.
Linkin Park knocked Harry Styles' self-titled debut album off the top spot. The race for number was a close one, with Kendrick Lamar's 'Damn' selling 98,000 units to take second position.
Both Harry and Kendrick are enjoying airplay on the Coca-Cola Top 40 chart.
But we think it won't be long before Linkin Park makes an appearance.
