Green Day had an awesome
response to Bastille's cover of their hit song, 'Basket Case'.
Green Day has given Bastille a seal of approval for their cover of 'Basket Case'.
The British indie band covered the hit single earlier this month for a new superhero TV series called 'The Tick'.
The group has received major praise for their version, and their fans can't get enough of the song.
Frontman Dan Smith says they were unsure if they should do the cover when they were approached by the show, but decided to have fun with the song.
"We were asked to do it, and we were obviously tentative about it we absolutely love Green Day, and it feels very odd covering a song that’s a classic. “So we just thought ‘if we’re going to do it, let’s have fun with it, let’s do something that’s hopefully respectful to the original but completely a million miles in the other direction. So it’s got no band instruments, just live strings, live brass and classical percussion," he told NME backstage at Reading and Leeds 2017.
Green Day also appear to be big fans of the cover.
"...the main thing is that Billie Joe gave it the thumbs up. It was like handing in your coursework and being terrified of the result, but we got the thumbs up from him. Apparently they’ve never approved a cover before," Dan added.
Bastille is bringing their 'Wild, Wild, Wild World Tour' to South Africa. The band will be performing at the Botanic Gardens in Durban on Friday, October 6.
Tickets are a steal at R495 each, and are available at www.webtickets.co.za.
