Sporty Spice Mel C joins 'Call Me A Lioness' World Cup song
'Call Me A Lioness' is England's unofficial anthem for the Women's World Cup.
Mel C, aka Sporty Spice/Melanie C, has recorded a new song in support of England's female football squad ahead of the Women's World Cup.
The Spice Girl is one of 11 artists who feature on 'Call Me A Lioness'. Singer Olivia Dean co-wrote the song with songwriter Glen Roberts.
The track has been released as a collaborative effort under the name Hope FC. According to the BBC, the name is a nod to former national coach Hope Powell. The song's title is also in reference to the female squad's nickname - lionesses.
"It’s been amazing to see the popularity of women’s football grow and their incredible win last year was a huge inspiration for this new song for the world cup," Mel C said in a statement.
The 49-year-old added; "I’m so privileged to be involved with a whole host of amazing female artists, cheering on our women’s team to bring it home again!"
Proceeds from the song will go to charities that help empower female football players.

The ninth FIFA Women's World Cup will be taking place in Australia and New Zealand. It kicks off on Thursday, July 20, and ends on Sunday, August 20.
South Africa's women's national football team Banyana Banyana is in Group G. They will face off against Sweden, Argentina, and Italy in the group.
Their first World Cup match is against Sweden on Sunday, July 23.
Banyana Banyana star Noko Matlou told The Citizen that the match will be an important one for the team.
"Opening games in the tournament are very crucial. It is important for us to make sure that we play to our best and get a good result. That will help us in boosting our confidence as a team to make sure that we have a good tournament," she said.
The USA team - which is in Group E with Portugal, Vietnam, and the Netherlands - are favourites to win the cup.
America won the last two tournaments.
The official song for the FIFA Women's World Cup is performed by New Zealand artist BENEE and Australia's Mallrat.
They are expected to sing the track at the opening ceremony on Thursday.
