Gerard Piqué reacts to Shakira's diss track
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Gerard showed up to work in a Renault car after his ex, Shakira, said he traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo in her new diss song.
Gerard Piqué is laughing all the way to the bank after his ex-girlfriend, Sharkira, took a swipe at him in her new song, 'BZRP Music Sessions #53'.
The couple, who have two children together- Milan (9) and Sasha (7), started dating in 2010 after sparks flew between the two at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. But their romance came to an abrupt end in June 2022.
The tabloids accused Gerard of cheating, but neither star addressed the claims. He was spotted with student Clara Chia Marti shortly after their split.
Shakira opened up about the end of their relationship in several interviews before releasing her break-up song.
"I think that those details are somehow too private to share, at least at this very moment—everything is so raw and new. I can only say that I put everything I had into this relationship and my family," Shakira told Elle magazine in September when asked about his new romance with Clara.
Fast-forward to 2023 and Shakira is ready to tell all! She took a swipe at Gerard and his girlfriend in her new song.
'I'm worth two 22's. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio," she sings in the song.
She sings in another part of the track: "I was out of your league, which is why you’re with someone just like you."
The 45-year-old even took a swipe at her mother-in-law.
"You left me with my mother-in-law as a neighbour, with the press at my door and a debt to the taxman." The taxman lyric is in reference to her Spanish tax woes.
Shakira is facing prison time for alleged tax fraud. She has denied claims that she owes more than $14-million in taxes.
Shakira's music video for 'BZRP Music Sessions #53' has already made YouTube history. The video was viewed more than 64-million times in 24 hours, making it the most-watched new Latin single.
It has racked up over 123-million views as of Monday, January 16.

Gerard is not taking the criticism lying down. He showed up to work in a Renault Twingo! The footballer is reportedly worth $80 million and can certainly afford a Ferrari but he wanted to send Shakira a clear message with his choice of ride.

It looks like the French car company has joined Casio in sponsoring Gerard's new King's League project. The seven-a-side tournament was set up by Gerard and consists of 12 teams.
Shortly before showing up in a Twingo, Gerard was seen wearing a Casio watch during a Livestream. He announced that he is already in talks with the brand.
"I'm serious... we have reached an agreement with Casio for the Kings [League], yes, because we have many countdowns and we have many watches... this watch is for life, I'm telling you!" the Mirror quoted the 35-year-old as saying.

Meanwhile, Shakira says her new song is not a diss track but a girl power anthem.
"I want to embrace the millions of women who rise up against those who make us feel insignificant," she said. The song has claimed the number spot on Spotify's Top 50 Global chart.
"Here’s to all the women teaching me how to make sweet lemonade when life gives you those sour a.. lemons," Shakira wrote on Instagram.
