Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Country meets punk rock! The duet we didn't see coming.
Miranda Lambert brought out a special guest during her CMA Fest 2023 performance - Avril Lavigne!
The pair sang two songs during the surprise performance - Lamber's 2005 hit, 'Kerosene', and Lavigne's 2002 classic, 'Sk8er Boi'.
The 38-year-old Canadian superstar was the third guest Lambert brought out during her set. Elle King and Leon Bridges joined her earlier in the show.
"We expected Elle King for Miranda Lambert’s #CMAFest set, even figured Leon Bridges would show up (he did). Avril Lavigne singing “Kerosene” was a surprise," a festivalgoer wrote on Twitter.

Lambert described Lavigne as her "new bestie" when introducing her onstage. Lavigne's 'Sk8er Boi' was one of the biggest songs of the 2000s.
The track was the second released from Lavigne's debut album, 'Let Go'.
The album celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022.
Lavigne marked the milestone by visiting the same street in New York where the album's cover picture was taken.
"Today marks 20 years since I released my album ‘Let Go’. I will never be able to fully explain not only how much this album meant to me, but the monumental impact it has had on my life. It’s hard to try and comprehend how, 20 years later, the songs I wrote as a 17-year-old would still resonate with people today," she wrote on Instagram.
